Groundbreaking was recently held for the new six-story 123-room English Village hotel. By mid-2017 there will be another lodging option for those seeking a view of the lake, a view of our iconic bridge, and a “suite” Lake Havasu City experience.
While silver shovels were used for a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction of a $17 million hotel on the English Village property, the new construction promises to be a golden opportunity for visitors seeking a new lodging option for their stay.
The new development will be an extended-stay luxury hotel with mostly suites that will have kitchens – developers expect many guests will extend their stays to five days or more, which is perfect for the entire family to stay together. A bar, restaurant and convenience store will be on the ground floor – 36 guests slips will allow you to pull up and resupply your boat and pick up food and beverages for the day.
The two floors above will contain 3,000 square feet of meeting rooms, and a 2,500-square-foot outdoor patio.
The hotel, which will maintain elements of the English Village theme and use a stone façade to match the bridge, is expected to be completed by summer 2017 and will be managed by Homewood Suites by Hilton, according to developers Virtual Realty Enterprises (VRE).
When contacted, Harriet McClearen, owner of the popular Burgers by the Bridge, almost jumped through the phone with her enthusiasm for the project.
I’m excited that the hotel is going to bring a lot more people down here, especially on big weekends when local hotels are already sold out,” Harriet tells us. “Once the hotel is up and running, VRE will want something for their customers to do. There’s talk about music down here, more of a river walk experience, perhaps a farmer’s market.”
Harriet continues, “This hotel will bring excitement to the area.”
